Choosing the Right Lead

With more than 50 varieties of pencil lead to choose from , picking the right one can seem a little daunting.  In case you aren't sure which one is the right one, we've put together a couple articles to help., 

What size?

Although the most common sizes are .046" (1.1mm) and .036" (0.9mm), if you're new to this you might have trouble telling the difference.  We've got some slick tricks that can help.

What grade/degree?

Pencil leads may look alike, but they don't write alike.  Here's a guide to understanding the European B/H (black/hard) scale, and how that scale compares to the U.S. numbering scale.


​How many millimeters?

We market our leads as they were packaged:  measured in inches rather than millimeters.  For those who have grown accustomed to the metric system, here's a conversion chart.
