The Panda Pencil Company's biggest customer was its parent company, Dur-O-Lite, which manufactured pencils for AT&T using a specific formulation of extra-dark lead roughly equivalent to a 4B, called "CX-22" or "OCR Scanner," the latter name used for its primary use in marrking computer cards dark enough that they could be read by early computer scanners. Since the pencils for which these leads were made were slightly shorter than pencils which used 4" leads, our stock of 4B Tallboys are a little shorter, as well.
